Carol 579, Rev. Charles Lewis Hutchins, Carols Old and Carols New
(Boston: Parish Choir, 1916)

1. Angels above on Advent morn
Tell the world that Christ is born:
Spread the glad tidings far and wide,
Tidings of joy this Christmas-tide.

2. In faith we celebrate the day
When Jesus in the manger lay,
With joyful song we hail the birth
Of Him Who brought goodwill on earth.

3. Jesus was born to save us all,
Both rich and poor from sin’s base thrall.
Render Him thanks this blessed day,
That He thy sin hath purged away,
That He thy sin hath purged away.
