1. There was a maiden like none other;
Lord Jesus chose her for His mother;

Eternal joy O!
O! Benedicamus Domino.

2. Archangel Gabriel gaily heard
Lord Jesus speak this lovely word:
        Eternal etc.

3. A little Home at Nazareth
Holds her on whom My Heart is set.
        Eternal etc.

4. Go in My Name and give her greeting
To be her Child I am entreating
        Eternal etc.

5. The angel found that quiet place
And said Hail Mary full of grace.
        Eternal etc.

6. Said Mary when she knew His word,
Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
        Eternal etc.

7. So did she bear a Son all-holy,
Eternal joy begins so lowly.
        Eternal etc.
