1. O wonderful the tidings
To us by Angels brought,
That born today in Bethlehem
Is One for ages sought!
It is the mighty Saviour,
Who quits His glory, power
To take on Him man's outward form,
Thrice blessed be the hour!

O blessed, yes, thrice blessed,
For all this wondrous day
When Christ is born, for evermore
To wash our sins away!

2. O why should shepherds lowly
Be first the words to hear?
Why unto us should gracious God
Bid angels bright appear?
Beyond our understanding
The ways of Heaven's King
But He for ever knoweth best,
And hears us as we sing. Chorus
