The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

O Lux Beata Trinitas

Hymnus vespertinus

An Evening Hymn by St. Ambrose (340-397)

Source: Hermann Adalbert. Daniel, Thesaurus Hymnologicus. Volume 1 of 5. (Halis: Sumptibus Eduardi Anton, 1846), #26, pp. 36-7.

O Lux beata Trinitas,
et principalis Unitas,
iam sol recedit igneus,
infunde lumen cordibus.

Te mane laudum carmine,
te deprecemur vespere:
te nostra supplex gloria
per cuncta laudet saecula.

Deo Patri sit gloria,
eiusque soli Filio,
cum Spiritu Paraclito,
et nunc, et in perpetuum.
