Dear Friends;
It is with great pleasure, and a bit of sadness, to announce my retirement from the Hymns and Carols of Christmas, a website that I created in the year 2002.
I am sad to be retiring as this website has been my primary activity for the last 12 years – and the 6 years before that when I first started collecting Christmas carols and hymns.
But I'm pleased to announce that Mr. Richard Jordan has offered to take over the ownership of the site, thus guaranteeing its long-term existence.
Since I became disabled in 2005 – due to daily migraine headaches together with a long, boring list of other medical issues – I have found it increasingly difficult to maintain the site, let alone grow the site. Vicki and I have both had concern for the future of the site if I were to pass without having relinquished ownership to another.
With Richard taking the helm, we can look forward to a number of much needed improvements to the navigation and design of the site, something that I'm looking forward to. In addition, Richard will be able to grow the site in ways that I can no longer accomplish.
Although my status is changing to that of Emeritus, I will continue to provide new material to the site. I intend to complete the incorporation of the texts to carols in Rev. Richard Terry's Two Hundred Folk Carols, as well as two other of his works, A Medieval Carol Book and Old Christmas Carols. Part One. After that, I've got a list of old books that I'm continuing to look for, both in libraries and on-line.
My thanks to you all for your support and kind words over the last 12 years.
Best wishes,
Douglas D. Anderson
