The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

With Hearts Full of Joy and of Gladness

For Christmas

Words and Music: Anonymous. Known by 1926.

1. With hearts full of joy and of gladness
An Anthem of praise let us sing
With feelings that know naught of sadness
Exultingly greet the great king

For angels today come from heaven
And tidings of joy do proclaim
The Savior of mankind is given

Through whom we can heaven reclaim.

2. Our sins to appease, to redeem us
Of Mary was born this sweet child
In Bethlehem's stable, full conscious
All loving, kind, merciful, mild

The shepherds whilst nightwatch were keeping
From angels this myst’ry hear
With wonder and awe hear this greeting
Rejoice and be glad have no fear.
