1. While Shepherds in the field did dwell,
Awaiting for the morn,
Angels appear'd to them and said:
"Your Saviour Christ is born."

2. "See the bright star that, in the East
In beauteous beams array'd
Foretells the place where Jesus Christ
The Son of God is laid.

3. "To Bethle'em haste, be not afraid,
Nor be dismayed at all:
There you will find the blessed Child
Laid in an oxen-stall."

4. All glory be to God on high
For His goodwill to men!
Sing raises to our new-born King,
For peace on earth is given.
