When Jesus Our Saviour

For Epiphany

Words: H. Knight

Music: H. Knight

1. When Jesus our Saviour was born below,
The sky with a glory divine did glow,
While angels flew down with glad tidings then,
Of peace and good-will to all sinful Men.

2. And lowliest shepherds who kept their sheep,
Where roused by those songs 'mid the silence deep,
They heard the sweet message and swift obeyed –
“Go, seek ye the city where Christ is laid.”

3. That night to the Magi who watched afar,
Came tidings of joy through a radiant star,
They follow'd its guidance, rich gifts to bring,
And offer in faith to their Infant King.

4. Oh! come, rich and poor then, with Holy joy,
Adore ye that birth which did sin destroy,
Then peace from on High shall your bosoms fill,
The peace that descended with God's goodwill.
