Carol 459, Rev. Charles Lewis Hutchins, Carols Old and Carols New
(Boston: Parish Choir, 1916)

1. The stars are brightly shining,
Above a peaceful plain,
While shepherds watch and listen,
To hear a glad refrain.

Chorus
The angels sing the message,
"Good-will on earth we bring,
The Prince of Peace we herald now,
Your Saviour and your King."

2. The wise men, too, are watching
The star that shall arise!
In glorious beauty lighting
The midnight darkened skies. Chorus

3. Thro' the whole world the summons
Comes from the sky to earth,
"Awake, and give your homage,
Proclaim the Saviour's birth." Chorus
