For Christmas

1.
Praise Jesus Christ who came this night
Praise Lady Mary's
maid-hood white;
Bless Saint Joseph's faithful watch ward
Keeping
our Lady and our Lord.
2.
Merciful kindness of our God
Drew him to us from bright
abode,
From darkling fate in toilsome clay
Lifting to
everlasting day.
3.
Blazed a great war, the trumpets dinned;
Wroth was Jehovah: Adam
sinned
For a glutton's comfort itching to know,
Prideful
rebellion brought him low.
4.
Gabriel in the end was sent,
Hailing Our Lady's pure intent
And
the Spirit and the Power most high
Fill'd her with grace to mother
by.
5.
Jesus was born in nakedness;
Pride in the stable veil'd her
face;
So He wrought and taught enduring need:
Naked He died to
shame our creed.
6.
Praise and thanksgiving be to Him
Reigning beyond the
Seraphim;
Here making home since Christmas night;
In Him, to
Him, our heart's delight.
