The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

O Ye Men Lost and Forsaken

For Christmas

Words and Music: Anonymous. Known by 1926.

1. O ye men lost and forsaken
Through the guilt of Adam's fall
Now let joy and hope awaken
Echoes in the hearts of all

For today was born to save us
Babe divine whom heaven gave us
Glory to God, Glory to God,
Glory to God in the highest.

2. Angels' voices sweetly singing
Over Bethlehem were heard
All the heavens echoed ringing
Flocks and shepherds were bestirred
And they came and knelt before Him
Full of gladness to adore Him
Glory to God, Glory to God,
Glory to God in the highest

3. O, what mystery unsealed
Lord Thou showest from the Crib
Love and wisdom there revealed
Angels praise with trembling lip
By Thy golden star Thou shinest
In the lowly Crib reclinest
Glory to God, Glory to God,
Glory to God in the highest
