O, Hear Ye Not The Angel-song

For Christmas

Words: G. Murray

1. O hear ye not the angel-song
First sung on that glad morn,
Its strains repeat in accents sweet,
That Christ is born.
That God to man is reconcil'd,
And He with us shall dwell,
A Child is born, a Son is giv'n,
Emmanuel.
Sing songs of joy, on this glad morn.
They never cloy;
These songs of joy,
That Christ is born.
Then raise a song of high thanksgiving to the Infant King.
And may our hearts in tune be found
While now we sing.

2. With heart and voice we all rejoice,
Our Blessed Lord to greet;
Our hearts are fill'd, our souls are thrill'd
With rapture sweet.
For well we know that this is He,
Who came our souls to sae,
And open'd now are heaven's gate,
For evermore!
Sing songs of joy on this glad morn,
They never cloy;
These songs of joy
That Christ is born.
Then tell to all the wondrous story
Of the Saviour King,
That ransom'd souls may sing the song
Which angels sing.
