The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

Now Christmas Is Come

Authorship Unknown

    Now Christmas is come,
    Let us beat up the drum,
And call all our neighbours together;
    And when they appear
    Let us make them such cheer
As will keep out the wind and the weather.

Editor's Note:

Quoted by Washington Irving in the "Christmas Eve" chapter of Old Christmas, but I have not been able to find the full carol. Old Christmas is a portion of a longer work, Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.
