1. The Lord He comes, He comes to bless
The nations as their God,
To show the world His righteousness,
And send His truth abroad.

2. Blest be the Lord who comes to men
With messages of Grace;
Who comes in God the Father's name,
To save a sinful race!

3. Join, earthly choirs, to celebrate
The birth of Christ our King:
Glad homage pay to Him who doth
Our greatest salvation bring.

4. With Hallelujahs sound His praise!
Employ your highest skill.
From Heav'n be peace to men on earth,
And unto all goodwill!

Sheet Music

Note from Pickard-Cambridge: Verses 1 and 2 from Isaac Watts, "Psalms of David" (1719), from Ps. 96 and Ps. 118, part 4 respectively. Verses 3 and 4 appear in one manuscript book as the start of a different carol.
