1. Joy, ye people, great and small,
Omnes gentes plaudite,
Raise the song in bower and hall:
Hail this high day's festival:
Christ is born to save us all;
Natus Christus hodie.

2. He for love of man hath come,
Gloria tibi Domine,
To deliver from the tomb
Satan's slaves enchained for doom.
Offspring of a Virgin's womb,
De Maria Virgine.

3. God from all eternity,
Filius homo natus est,
He hath left His throne on high,
With the lowliest poor to lie,
Deigning for their sake to die.
Verbum caro factum est.

4. Hail we then our King today,
Natus sine macula,
And, as ages pass away,
Let the nations all for aye
Raise to Him their loftiest lay,
In eterna secula.
