Jesu, bright and morning Star,
     Uncreated Light of ages,
Star of Jacob, seen afar,
Guide our footsteps with yon Sages,
Till we also, of thy grace,
     See thy face.
If the timid mariner
Do but eye thee, Star of morrow,
Though the winter night be drear,
Courage high he straight will borrow,
Soon will gain the port, where he
     Fain would be.
Wonder-Star of eastern skies,
Grant that, at thy next appearing,
With our bodies we may rise,
     Joyfully thy summons hearing,
And to realms of endless clay
     Wend our way.
