The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

I Love To Tell The Story

For Christmas

Words: Peter & Kathryn Prange
Copyright, 2011. Released to the Public Domain

Music: To the Tune of "I Love To Tell The Story"

1. I love to tell the story, of that first Christmas Day
When Mary laid her baby, upon the bed of hay
Thru many ancient prophets, God told what He had willed
And now in Bethlem’s city*, God’s promise was fulfilled

    *City could also be province

2. I love to tell the story, of that first Christmas morn
Of angels and of shepherds, the day that Christ was born
Peace on the earth, and great joy, came words from heav’n above
Great news I bring for all men, the story of God’s love

3. I love to tell the story, of that first Christmas star
The magi read the promise, then travelled from afar
And when so long they’d journeyed, at last they saw the king
Their gifts they shower’d upon him, and in their hearts did sing

Chorus:
I love to tell the story 'twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love.

Note from Pastor Prange.

Over the years my wife and I have penned a few hymns & carols. This year for the children’s Christmas service we have written some Christmas verses for I Love to Tell the Story. Normally the refrain is used after each verse, but we are only using the Refrain after verse 3. The song of course is to the glory of God, and if someone wants to use it, change it, better it, that is fine with us.

In Christ,

Peter & Kathryn Prange
