The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

Hark, From The Midnight Hills Around

John Bishop

1. Hark, from the midnight hills around
A voice of more than mortal sound
In distant alleluias stole
Like murm'rings of a raptured soul
Then swift to ev'ry startled eye
new streams of glory fill'd the sky.

2. Heav'n bursts its azure gates to pour
Bright spirits to the midnight hour;
On wheels of light, on wings of flame,
The glor'ous hosts to Zion came.
The theme of all this joyous train?
"The Prince of Salem comes to reign!"
