1. Glad news, glad news a near and far!
O hail the blest appearing
Of Him who is the Sun, the Star,
The Light of hope and cheering.

Chorus:
For Christ is come to lead us home,
His Star shines forth in glory:
Let ev'ry bell the tidings tell,
That all may know the story.

2. "Sweet peace on earth, good will to me"
The angels now are singing,
Their anthem carol'd through the sky,
In ev'ry heart is ringing. Chorus

3. And sweetly o'er the wintry lea
Let all the bells be ringing!
Bring, happy heart, thy melody,
And join the wide world's singing, Chorus
