For Christmas Eve
Words and Music: From a Slovak Christmas carol by Richard Kountz, copyright 1953

Note:
This has been one of my favorite carols for many years; I first saw it on a 3-LP set from BMG Music, "The Spirit of Christmas" in the late 1960s.
A friend of this web site, Lillian in Florida, has recently written concerning this song, which helped me to verify the publication of the sheet music. My six copies (the minimum order) arrived Feb. 26, 2013.
At least one YouTube video of this song is available: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSX59X6CIxY
This recording is on an LP with the title "Christmas Music by the Augustana Choir" from RCA Camden; it also can be found on the LP Augustana Choir (Word Records, W-4005-LP, Red Vinyl, Mono, 1956). This song also appears in several Christmas compilations, including the 3-CD set from BMG Music, "The Spirit of Christmas," and the 4-CD set, "Superstar Christmas."
Here is a link for more information about Professor Henry Velt, who taught at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, from 1929 to 1966, and who was the director of the choir for many years.
The sheet music is published by Galaxy Music Corporation (EC.1.1944) (ASIN: B0000CYBZ9): "Come to the Manger by Richard Kountz. For SATB Choir, Keyboard (Organ or Piano). Choral, Christmas. Octavo. 8 pages." It is available from sheet music publishers.
