Words and Music: English Traditional
Source: Ralph Dunstan, The Cornish Song Book (London: Reid Bros., Ltd., 1929), p. 114.
Hark, hark, hark!
Hark, the Christmas Chanters come!
Hark, hark, hark!
Hark, the Christmas Chanters come!
Hark, the Christmas Chanters come!
Rise, prepare and make them room,
Rise, prepare and make them room,
Rise, prepare and make them room!
Each one join to spread His fame,
Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna,
Hosanna to Emmanuel's Name,
Hosanna to Emmanuel's Name.
Peace to man thro' Jesus' birth,
Shout, Shout, Shout, Shout,
Shout His praise o'er all the earth;
Shout His praise o'er all the earth;
Shout His praise, shout his praise,
Shout His praise o'er all the earth,
Shout His praise o'er all the earth!
Peace to man thro' Jesus' birth,
Shout, Shout, Shout, Shout,
Shout His praise o'er all the earth;
Shout His praise o'er all the earth;
Shout His praise, shout his praise,
Shout His praise o'er all the earth,
Shout His praise o'er all the earth!
Sheet Music
Note from Dr. Dunstan:
I do not know the origin of this peace; it occurs on several of the old MSS., and was very popular in West Cornwall sixty or seventy years ago.
A shorter version is found in Hark, The Christmas Chanters Come.
