1. A child is born in Bethlehem
And joy is in Jerusalem.

2. His form a stable doth defend
Whose kingdom is without an end.

3. Well did the creatures of the stall
Know in that Child the Lord of all.

4. There the Sabaean Kings unfold
Gifts of myrrh, frankincense, and gold.

5. Each as he enters at the door
Kneeleth the new-born Prince before.

6. The Virgin's womb He doth not scorn,
Without man's seed conceived and born.

7. He blood of our own blood did spring,
Yet scathless of the Serpent's sting.

8. Like unto us without, within,
Save only in the stamp of sin.

9. Sent to reclaim our race o'erthrown,
Into God's likeness and His own.

10. Exulting in this glorious birth
Bless we the Lord of heaven and earth.

11. Praise to the Holy Trinity !
Thanksgiving unto God most High !
