Words: Alf Prøysen (1914-1970), 1946
Tune: Norwegian Traditional
English Translation: The Mouse Song - Musevisa by Ivar Kalleberg
I have been advised that the Norwegian lyrics are under copyright, and have accordingly removed both the Norwegian and English translation from this site.
These lyrics, however, are available elsewhere on the World Wide Web:

Merry Christmas to all.
Note:
Musevisa (“The Mouse Song”) is a Norwegian Christmas Carol written by Alf Prøysen in 1946. Mr. Prøysen composed this carol at the request of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK; see Alf Prøysen; <http://www.nrk.no/programmer/sider/alf_proeysen/>). He was a singer and songwriter, and matched the lyrics to a traditional Norwegian folk tune. The fascinating background behind this carol, including the “missing verse,” are recounted at these two web sites:
Musevisa-English Translation, Norway Christmas, 3 April 2009. <http://christmas.indianorway.com/2009/04/03/musevisa-english-translation/> A background to this carol, together with English lyrics, are found on this page.

That missing verse, by the way, turned out to be a cleverly-executed hoax.
Of the numerous “Musevisa” videos at YouTube, here are two of the better ones.
