The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

Jesus Was Once A Child

Words: Mrs. W. M. Bell

There are many blessings to little ones given,
Kind friends to love, and care for them here;
Thoughts of a bright, sweet home in heaven.
Where from our eyes God shall wipe every tear;
But the sweetest thought in this world so wild,
Is the thought that Jesus was once a child.

We know He is King in Glory now,
He holdeth the worlds by the power of His work;
Before him all nations of earth shall bow,
And own Him ruler, and own Him Lord;
But the sweetest thought in this world so wild,
Is the thought that Jesus was once a child.

So we come to Jesus and tell Him all,
He knoweth the wants of the children dear;
He will hear and answer the weakest call,
And trusting in Him we shall have no fear.
But the sweetest thought in this world so wild,
Is the thought that Jesus was once a child.
